Metal is an element which easily loses electrons so to form positive ions and also forms bond among different metallic atoms, whereas an alloy is known as solid solution of more than one element among which one is metal and has metallic properties.

In the process of alloying of two or more metals often enhances their properties. The word “alloy” is what used in day-to-day speech like automobile wheels are manufactured by aluminum alloy. Even 14 carat gold is known as alloy of gold together with other elements. Likewise aluminum useful in building materials and silver used for making jewelry are also alloys.

Metal & Alloys are often heavy-duty, tough and strong in its physical characteristics. Some of the metals of periodic table are sodium, magnesium, silver, mercury, gold, calcium, tin, niobium, nickel, zinc, platinum, aluminium, etc. Metals are generally good conductor of heat and electricity. India is one of the most important country for metal industry which employees nearly three million workers.

Now-a-days metals are used for various purposes - to make coins, jewellery, house hold items, etc. which must be conserved for the future generation.
