The Internet is a network of computers worldwide that is interconnected through a protocol named Internet Protocol Suite or TCP/IP. The network is made of various private, public, academic, business, and government networks linked together with various networking technologies.

The internet is a vast source of source of information and services and supports the transfer of electronic mail. The Internet has caused a revolution and redefined many aspects of the human society. It has changed the ways of communication and entertainment.

What started off as a research project for the US military agencies to build a robust computer network in the 1960s, later on development of new networking technologies got commercialized in the mid 1990s. Now the internet touches the lives of humans in almost all aspects, according to reports of 2009 it is claimed that 1/4th of the human population are using internet.

Online services are useful in many ways like for finding information, to correspond with friends & family situated far away, to meet different people, to learn something, to read worldwide news and developments in different fields, to search software, to earn online money, to shop online, net banking, business opportunities, free games, online movies, advertising facilities and even web marketing etc. There are endless possibilities of the applications of the Internet.
